Born and raised in the state of West Bengal, Rakesh had found his immense passion towards science in his early school days. Following this interest, he joined Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara to pursue his B.Sc. taking Chemistry as the honours subject. After B.Sc. he went Gujarat to do his M.Sc. from the Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar where he emerged as the university topper.
Rakesh is mainly interested in synthetic chemistry, more precisely in its interfaces with the environmental and biomedical domains. Currently, he is doing his doctoral research at Eco-Friendly Applied Materials Laboratory (EFAML) under Dr. Soumyajit Roy's supervision. The group is mainly engaged is exploring various properties of Polyoxometalates and Soft Oxometalates, their syntheses and various novel applications.
In his spare time, Rakesh enjoys spending time with his family, listening to good music and watching tv. He is a huge cricket fan and also supports FC Barcelona in Football. Apart from doing chemistry, he is also passionate about recitation.
